All off-base activities of the two South Korean military units currently in Iraq have been temporarily suspended in the wake of the recent terrorist bombing of the Italian police headquarters in Nasiriya Wednesday.

Officials from the Joint Chiefs of Staff headquarters announced Thursday that in the immediate wake of the bombing, it had ordered the Suh Hee and Jema Korean military units in Iraq to increase vigilance and suspend all off-base activities until further notice. The units were also instructed to fully utilize communication channels with US and Italian forces.

The Joint Chiefs also said that the hospital inside the base of the Jema unit will continue operations as normal, only stepping up inspections on those coming and going from the hospital.
