The Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry has welcomed the agreement made between the Iraqi Transitional Governing Council and the coalition forces in Iraq concerning the hand-over of sovereignty to Iraq by the end of next June, following the establishment of a transitional government.

The ministry said in its commentary Tuesday that the Korean government hopes all necessary procedures for restoring Iraqi sovereignty would proceed smoothly so that a legal and democratic government might be promptly established in the war-torn Gulf state.
