The Seoul District Prosecutors' Office said Tuesday it would indict dissident Korean-German professor Song Doo-yul either on November 19th or 20th, as an arrest deadline for Song is set to expire on the 20th.

The prosecution is reported to have tentatively decided to arrest and indict Song, as he has allegedly not shown any change in attitude and remained non-committal concerning major pro-North Korean activities over the past 30 days of interrogation.

Prosecutors are now reportedly preparing a letter of indictment and are listing the major charges to be contained therein.

Meanwhile, hundreds of German civic activists are calling for the release of the South Korean-born German scholar, who has been detained thus far on charges of violating South Korea's anti-communist National Security Law.

After returning to Seoul in September following almost four decades in political exile, the 59-year old professor at Germany's Muenster University has been submitted to relentless questioning on his alleged pro-North Korean activities during his time overseas, including his supposed membership in the Politburo of the North's Workers' Party.
