The National Institute for Health says it will strengthen its ability to deal effectively with disease control and prevention.

The institute said Tuesday that the measures approved by the cabinet will expand the scope and organization of the current Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Possible changes to be carried out call for the setting up of four departments tasked with managing contagious diseases, handling dangers associated with biological terrorism, vaccination, and disease prevention and quarantine.
