The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has suspended North Korea's national team for one year and fined it 8,000 dollars for not taking AFC competitions seriously.
The Confederation imposed the penalties after North Korea failed to approve travel visas for Jordanian players for an October 28th AFC match. The Asian Cup qualifier was canceled because the Jordanians were not given the proper documentation. The AFC awarded Jordan a 3-0 win in the match.

In another incident, the AFC awarded Iran a 3-0 win over North Korea after the North Korean team walked off the field during an Asia Cup match November 12th in Tehran. Iran was also penalized for allowing a fan to throw a homemade explosive onto the field during the match. Iran was fined 10,000 dollars and ordered to play its next match in an empty stadium.
