The government has decided to issue a new type of passport beginning the end of next year in order to prevent passport forgery and fabrication.

A government official said Saturday that a transcription method, used by the U.S. and Japan will be introduced, in which the photograph on the passport will be printed on the document rather than being pasted as is being currently done.

The official said the Foreign Ministry and several district offices will begin issuing examples of the new type of passports from next November before expanding its usage in stages.
