The government says a total of one-thousand-387 model prisoners will be pardoned on Thursday under a special amnesty on the occasion of Christmas.

The pardoned include 18 people who have served for more than 20 years after receiving life sentences and 76 inmates who have served more than 10 years in prison.

The Justice Ministry asserted that the inmates receiving amnesty were not likely to be repeat offenders and did not include those convicted of human or narcotics trafficking or gang rape.
