The Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has established the world's longest above-sea electric power line off of South Korea's west coast.

KEPCO held an electric power activation ceremony Friday after completing a power line stretching some 39 kilometers between Young Heung Island of Incheon City, over the West Sea and eventually reaching Shiheung City in Kyunggi Province.

The line was set up for the purpose of sending megavolt-capacity electric power between the Youngheung Thermal Power Station and the new Shiheung Transformer Substation.

A total of 70 pylons were erected in the process of linking the two sites.
