The government is seeking ways to maintain the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command and the U-N Command in Seoul by proposing to Washington that it is willing to expand the size of land to be allocated for the remaining forces at Yongsan Garrison from the initially-proposed 67 hectares to around 78 hectares.

A government official said Sunday that Seoul will make the proposal to Washington during the sixth round of the Future of the Alliance Policy Initiative slated to take place in Hawaii for two days from January 15th.

However, the official said it is unclear whether Washington will accept Seoul
