Just two days before the National Assembly votes on the ratification of a controversial Korea-Chile Free Trade Agreement (FTA), President Roh Moo-hyun met Tuesday with a delegation of farmers belonging to the Farmers' Alliance, a leading voice against the realization of the FTA.

During the meeting, President Roh reportedly explained the necessity of signing the FTA and the measures the government will take to minimize resultant damages to domestic farmers, while asking the delegation to understand and support the government's moves.

Roh is also scheduled to meet with another farmers' delegation at Chong Wa Dae on Wednesday.
