The Ministry of Environment has ordered regional environmental offices to prohibit imports of Chinese civet cats, badgers and raccoon dogs that may transmit severe acute respiratory syndrome or SARS virus to humans.

The ministry has advised citizens to refrain from contacting the wild animals and eating dishes made from them.
