S. Korean Expedition Conquers South Pole

Mountaineer Park Young-suk has conquered the South Pole, becoming the leader of only the third Korean expedition team to successfully make the perilous journey.

Park and his group of four explorers reached their destination on Tuesday after a 44-day trek of some one-thousand-134 kilometers through Antarctica. They embarked from the Hercules seashore on November 30th.

Heo Young-ho is the only other Korean to has led an expedition team to the South Pole, having accomplished the feat in 1994 and again in 1997.
