Prosecutors Probe 9.5 Bln Won Donation by Sun & Moon

Led by prosecutor Kim Jin-heung, the special counsel team investigating a corruption scandal enveloping President Roh Moo-hyun's former aides said they are conducting close probes into allegations concerning illegal donations amounting to some 9.5 billion won delivered to then-presidential candidate Roh's camp by the tourism-related Sun & Moon Group.
Sun & Moon Group was one of Roh's chief financial supporters during the presidential election in December of 2002.
The special investigation team has summoned a man by the name of Lee who testified on tape that Sun & Moon Group had delivered 9.5 billion won to Roh's camp during the presidential election. Prosecutors also summoned a man by the name of Ha whose voice also appeared on the evidence tape to confirm the allegations concering the group's alleged illegal donations to Roh's camp.
Investigators have recently requested the Seoul District Public Prosecutor's Office to provide them with the original evidence tape so they can make comparisons with the contents of the copied version.
