Legal representatives of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl say they are planning to submit additional documents to the court ahead of a deliberation hearing on an injunction filed to halt the two-month suspension he received from a Justice Ministry disciplinary committee.

Speaking to KBS by phone on Monday, the lawyers cited the need to provide additional written explanations before they make their case at the Seoul Administrative Court on Tuesday.

Yoon's attorneys apparently intend to highlight what they call the illegality of the disciplinary procedures and the need to suspend punitive measure against the top prosecutor.

They will also reportedly take issue with Shin Seong-sik, the head of the anti-corruption department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office(SPO), joining the disciplinary committee.

Shin allegedly provided misleading information to a local media outlet about suspicions of collusive ties between the prosecution and the media involving Yoon's close aide, which was one of the allegations involved in the disciplinary review against Yoon. Yoon’s lawyers claim it breaches rules on punishing public officials that ban any related person from joining a disciplinary review.

The top prosecutor filed for a withdrawal of the punishment and an injunction last Thursday, a day after President Moon Jae-in endorsed the panel’s decision upon recommendation by Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae.

The panel reached the decision in the early hours of Wednesday, declaring Yoon guilty of four out of six counts of ethical and legal misconduct.
