Seoul Administrative Court has decided to resume deliberation on an appeal against a Justice Ministry committee’s two-month suspension of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl later this week following a fierce legal battle between the two sides.

The court held a review session on Tuesday afternoon to hear cases from both sides and was expected to hand a verdict as early as later in the day.

After the session ended slightly two hours later, however, the court announced it will hold a second review session at 3 p.m. on Thursday due to significant differences in the stances of opposing sides.

Yoon filed for a withdrawal of the punishment and an injunction last Thursday, a day after President Moon Jae-in endorsed the panel’s decision upon recommendation by Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae.

The panel reached the decision in the early hours of Wednesday, declaring Yoon guilty of four out of six counts of ethical and legal misconduct.
