Despite a recent surge in COVID-19 cases in South Korea, the number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases per 100-thousand people in the nation is the second lowest among Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD) member states, data shows.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) on Thursday, South Korea had 101 cases per 100-thousand people as of Wednesday, which ranked 36th out of 37 OECD countries.

Only New Zealand had a lower number of cases than South Korea at 37.

The figure for South Korea was even lower at 54-point-66 as of November 14, but has increased since a third wave of the pandemic hit the country in mid-November.

Luxembourg had the highest number per 100-thousand people at seven-thousand-430, followed by the Czech Republic at five-thousand-994, Belgium at five-thousand-404 and the United States at five-thousand-382.
