VOA: Congress Earmarks Budget to Install Homeland Defense Radar Hawaii

The Voice of America(VOA) reported that the U.S. Congress has allocated a budget to install a missile defense radar in Hawaii that could respond to North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missile test launches.

According to the report on Friday, Congress allotted roughly 133 million dollars to the Missile Defense Agency in the 2021 defense budget bill so that the agency can continue developing the so-called Homeland Defense Radar Hawaii.

Observers say that the radar’s installment in the island state by 2023 would increase the time window and efficiency for ground-based interceptor launches from Alaska or California.
