U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a COVID-19 relief and spending package worth a total of two-point-three trillion dollars.

Foreign media, including the Associated Press, said the White House announced the signing on Sunday night.

The relief and spending package includes some 900 billion dollars in aid for individuals and small businesses and one-point-four trillion dollars to fund government agencies through September.

Trump signed the package after Congress passed the combined coronavirus aid and spending bill last Monday and sent it to the White House last Thursday.

Trump had put off signing the package, demanding that the maximum amount of aid per person be raised from 600 dollars to two-thousand dollars.

By signing the package, Trump averted a federal government shutdown that many had worried could come on Tuesday if Trump failed to sign.
