The woman who accused late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon of sexual harassment has expressed regret over the police failing to reveal facts they learned about the allegations during its investigation.
Kim Jae-ryon, the lawyer representing the victim, conveyed the position when talking to Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency over the phone on Tuesday, shortly after police concluded their investigation into the sexual harassment allegations without bringing charges.
Kim criticized the police, saying while they should have clearly mentioned what facts they found through their investigation, they opted not to by citing that the accused is deceased.
Earlier in the day, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency unveiled plans to send the case to the prosecution with a recommendation for non-indictment, saying the authority to indict has been lost since the accused is now deceased.
The agency said it will also recommend non-indictment in the alleged abetting by acting Seoul Mayor Seo Jung-hyup and six other incumbent or former Seoul Metropolitan Government officials, citing a lack of evidence.
