S. Korea Reports 1,050 New COVID-19 Cases

South Korea reported one-thousand-50 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, raising the country's combined total to nearly 60-thousand. 

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said that the new infections raised the country's accumulated caseload to 59-thousand-773.

The nation has added an average of one-thousand-33 cases a day over the past week. 

Of the new cases detected throughout Tuesday, one-thousand-25 were local transmissions, while 25 were imported.

More than 700 cases came from the capital region, including 383 in Seoul and 274 in Gyeonggi Province. 

The cumulative number of cases detected at the Dongbu Detention Center in eastern Seoul rose to 792. 

Twenty more people died from COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 879. The fatality rate stands at one-point-47 percent. 

The number of critically ill COVID-19 patients increased by two to 332.
