Preemptive COVID-19 testing launched in the greater Seoul area identified more than 100 infections on Tuesday.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said it conducted tests on 41-thousand-154 people and found 107 tested positive for the coronavirus, or some ten percent of new domestic cases for Tuesday.

With the latest figure, the total number of COVID-19 cases confirmed at preemptive test sites since they began operations on December 14 has grown to one-thousand-567.

These tests, which are given to people regardless of symptoms and conducted anonymously with only mobile telephone numbers being noted, are provided at newly installed temporary screening centers.

The 152 test sites currently in operation will continue to stay open near places frequented by a large number of people, such as major subway stations, through January 17.
