The government will order a suspension of business or shutdown of facilities for venues that repeatedly violate COVID-19 quarantine regulations.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said it will implement from Wednesday revised enforcement regulations regarding the prevention and management of infectious diseases.

Under the revised standards, venues or establishments that fail to observe quarantine rules once will face a warning and those that violate rules a second time will be slapped with a ten-day suspension.

A 20-day suspension will be applied for a third violation and a three-month suspension for fourth-time violators. For places that have failed to follow quarantine rules for a fifth time, the government could order a shutdown of business.

KCDA Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyeong said that with the revised regulations the government will be able secure the efficiency of quarantine efforts.
