Germany will lift its entry restrictions on South Koreans from Friday and South Korea will ease visa screening procedures on essential travelers from Germany.

The South Korean Embassy in Germany and the German Embassy in South Korea said on Wednesday that diplomatic authorities of the two nations reached the agreement recently.

The agreement will allow South Koreans once again to visit the European country regardless of their travel purpose. Visa-free entry for stays of 90 days or less will also be allowed.

From Friday, South Korea will expedite visa screening procedures for essential travel by German business people, scientists, medical experts or students, shortening the screening period from the current two weeks to seven days.
