S. Korea Reports 967 New COVID-19 Cases

South Korea reported 967 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, raising the country's total to over 60-thousand. 

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said that the new infections raised the country's accumulated caseload to 60-thousand-740.

The daily figure dropped by 83 from Wednesday and fell below one thousand after staying above the mark for two straight days. 

Of the new cases detected throughout Wednesday, 940 were local transmissions, while 27 were imported.

Nearly 650 cases came from the capital region, including 365 in Seoul, 219 in Gyeonggi Province and 59 in Incheon. 

The nation's COVID-19 death toll hit 900 as 21 more people died from the virus on Wednesday. The fatality rate stands at one-point-48 percent. 

The number of critically ill COVID-19 patients increased by 12 to 344.
