Violent supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday to challenge a congressional move to certify President-elect Joe Biden's win.

According to foreign media, the Capitol fell into chaos and violence as hundreds of pro-Trump rioters swarmed the building and one woman was shot dead inside the Capitol. 

The National Public Radio quoted a police source as saying that it's uncertain who shot the woman. 
 
Reuters and the Associated Press quoted officials as saying that the protesters were forced out of the building about four hours after their breach. 

Tear gas and percussion grenades were reportedly used to break up the crowd.
