South Korea reported 665 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, staying below one-thousand for the sixth consecutive day.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said Sunday that the new cases raised the country's accumulated caseload to 68-thousand-664.

The daily figure remained in the 600 range for the third straight day as the third wave of the epidemic appears to be slowing down amid the country's tough social distancing rules.

Of the new cases detected throughout Saturday, 631 were local transmissions and 34 were imported cases.

By region, 400 cases come from the greater metro area with 179 in Seoul, 189 in Gyeonggi Province and 32 in Incheon. In other parts of the nation, Busan recorded 32 new cases, Daegu 34 and Gwangju 18.

Twenty-five more coronavirus deaths were reported, raising the country's death toll to one-thousand-125. The fatality rate stands at one-point-64 percent.

The number of critically ill patients dropped by eight to 401.
