The treacherous cold snap that has gripped the nation for days is forecast to remain in place through Tuesday morning.

The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) said on Monday that morning lows in northern parts of Gyeonggi Province and western parts of Gangwon Province on Tuesday will hover around minus 15 degrees Celsius.

The weather agency forecast minus 10 degrees for other central regions, the eastern parts of North Jeolla Province and the inland areas of North Gyeongsang Province, and minus five degrees for the rest of the nation for the same period.

From afternoon, however, the mercury is expected to recover to seasonal levels and all cold advisories and warnings issued across the nation are set to be lifted.

Snow is expected to pelt some parts of the country, including Seoul and southern parts of Gyeonggi Province on early Tuesday morning.
