S. Korea Reports 404 New COVID-19 Cases

South Korea's daily COVID-19 cases slightly climbed to over 400 on Wednesday, exactly one year after the country's first case was reported.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said Wednesday that 404 new infections were confirmed throughout the previous day, raising the country's accumulated caseload to 73-thousand-518.

The daily figure increased by 18 to climb over 400 after remaining in the 300s for two straight days.   

Of the new infections, 373 were local transmissions, while 31 were imported. More than 270 local cases came from the capital region, with 135 in Seoul, 126 in Gyeonggi Province and 14 in Incheon. 

In other parts of the nation, the southern port city of Busan added 12 cases, while Daegu and Gwangju reported 11 each.

The number of critically ill patients is down by 12 to 323, while 17 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 13-hundred. The fatality rate stands at one-point-77 percent.
