A senior official at the Justice Ministry in charge of immigration said the ministry is considering filing a complaint against the whistleblower regarding a controversial travel ban against former Vice Justice Minister Kim Hak-ui in 2019.

This comes as the prosecution has launched an investigation into allegations that the ministry violated procedural regulations in issuing the ban.

Speaking to a KBS radio program on Monday, Korea Immigration Service Commissioner Cha Gyu-geun said handing over investigation files to a certain political party should be considered a violation of laws on officials leaking confidential information.

While he also values procedural justification, Cha stressed that it should also be respected when someone raises a problem.
