The government has said it plans to inoculate 70 percent of the public by September with vaccinations to begin from next month.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) reported the plan and other major policies for the year to President Moon Jae-in on Monday.

The KDCA said vaccines aimed at swiftly overcoming the pandemic will be administered to 70 percent of the population for free so the nation will achieve herd immunity by November.

It also vowed thorough preparations for the vaccination program set to begin next month as around 250 centers and ten-thousand other medical facilities in the nation are gearing up to provide shots.

The government said earlier that it has secured arrangements through global pharmaceutical firms and UN's COVAX Facility to enough vaccine doses for 76 million people, which is about one-point-four times the nation’s population.
