A group of experts from the World Health Organization(WHO), which is investigating the origin of COVID-19, reportedly has found "important clues" in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

Peter Daszak, a member of the team, told Bloomberg News on Saturday that the investigators have found some "real clues" that show the role of a seafood market in Wuhan in spreading the virus.

Since January 19, the WHO investigation team has visited hospitals, virus research institutes, and the Huanan seafood market in Wuhan, where the first cluster infections were reported in December 2019.

Daszak reportedly said that the investigation of the fish market has produced significant results.

He said that while the market was shuttered and cleaned almost immediately after cases were recognized, there was still some evidence of what was happening.

Daszak expected the investigation team to announce its key findings before leaving China on Wednesday.
