S. Korea Reports 289 COVID-19 Cases, Lowest Since November

South Korea reported 289 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, the lowest in over two months.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said on Monday the new cases raised the country's accumulated caseload to 81-thousand-185. 

It is the first time the number has dropped to the 200 range since November 23 when the daily case number hit 271.

Of the new cases detected throughout Sunday, 264 were local transmissions, while 25 were imported.

More than 200 of the local cases came from the greater metro area, with 111 in Seoul, 79 in Gyeonggi Province and 17 in Incheon. Other parts of the nation reported 57 cases.

Three more deaths have been confirmed, raising the death toll to one-thousand-474, with the fatality rate at one-point-82 percent. 

The number of critically ill COVID-19 patients stands at 188, down two from the previous day.
