Health authorities say they have yet to confirm the possibility of human-to-human transmission of the bird flu virus.

The state-run Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention convened a meeting of experts of virulent and infectious viruses Monday. But the agency said it is not sure whether the bird flu virus can be passed among humans.
After analyzing reports by the World Health Organization, the participants of the meeting said they have yet to confirm whether the case of an infected Vietnamese family is linked to human-to-human transmission of the avian influenza.
Health authorities said they will consider forming a task force and strengthening testing procedures in case the H5N1 virus mutates to spread as quickly among people as it does among chickens, posing a potential threat to global health.
