Korean researchers say they are working to finish developing a vaccine to combat the spread of a deadly strain of bird flu.

A research team at the Veterinary Science Department of Chungnam National University said Tuesday that they are currently developing a vaccine to protect humans from the avian influenza that continues to spread throughout Asian countries. The chief of the research team, Professor Suh Sang-hee, said the vaccine will be made available before this coming winter, during which time experts fear a 'super flu' epidemic could hit the nation.

Suh also said recent findings suggest migratory birds from Siberia may have brought the bird flu into Korea.
