Land Minister Byeon Chang-heum said Friday that he will take responsibility in overhauling the embattled Korea Land and Housing Corporation(LH).

Byeon also said that he will not cling to his post, hinting that he could step down if his role does not fulfill expectations.

The minister made the remarks in a parliamentary committee meeting when asked by both ruling and main opposition lawmakers if he intended to step down in order to take responsibility for the scandal

Byeon said that he will draw up measures to make sure that such practices do not occur again at LH and if his actions are deemed not enough, then he will stick to his decision and follow the president’s decision.

Byeon has faced considerable criticism over the scandal as he served as the chief of LH before becoming land minister in December.
