Four of eight people killed in a series of shootings at three massage parlors and spas in Atlanta on Tuesday were South Korean, according to a Korean media outlet based in the U.S. city.
Citing a South Korean who works in the industry, Atlanta K said that four of the deceased were South Korean women, including one in her 50s and another in her 70s.
According to U.S. media, four people died in a shooting at an Asian massage parlor in Cherokee County near Atlanta at 5:00 p.m. Fifty minutes later, another four died in shootings at two spas located in northern Atlanta.
Reports said police arrested a suspected shooter, identified as Robert Aaron Long, at around 8:30 p.m., some 240 kilometers south of Atlanta in Crisp County.
Police believe Long is responsible for all three shootings, though they have yet to arrive at a motive.
In Seoul, the Foreign Ministry said four of the victims are confirmed to be of Korean descent, but their nationalities are yet to be determined.
