A senior U.S. military official has denied a newspaper report that the U.S. is considering a sweeping change in the military command structure in South Korea.

Tuesday's Washington Times said that the United States is planning to dismantle three major military commands headquartered in Seoul as part of its global military realignment programs. The reports also said the Defense Department's plan includes the abolition of the position of the four-star general who commands the U.S. Forces Korea, the Combined Forces Command and the U.N. Command.
