South Korea reported daily COVID-19 cases in the 400s for a fifth straight day.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said Sunday that 456 new cases were reported Saturday, raising the country's accumulated caseload to 98-thousand-665.

The daily figure slightly increased despite fewer testing during the weekend amid continued outbreaks of mass infections across the nation.

Of the new cases, 437 cases were local infections, while 19 were imported.

About 70 percent of the local cases came from the greater metro area, with 124 in Seoul, 155 in Gyeonggi Province and 20 in Incheon – other parts of the nation added 138 cases.

Three more deaths have been reported, raising the death toll to one-thousand-696. The fatality rate stands at one-point-72 percent.

The number of critically ill patients rose by two to 104.
