Two North Koreans have been arrested while trying to enter the consular department of the South Korean Embassy in Beijing.
The would-be asylum-seekers were identified as a married couple in their 30s.
An official of a group that supports North Korean defectors said the couple escaped from the communist state earlier this year to seek asylum in South Korea by entering the South Korean mission.
The official said the two were turned over to Chinese authorities after being arrested on Wednesday.
