South Korea's ministry in charge of inter-Korean affairs on Friday declined to give an official statement regarding North Korea's missile launches on Thursday.

Unification Ministry deputy spokesperson Cha Deok-cheol said Seoul has already said it will analyze whether the missiles were ballistic and if they violate United Nations Security Council(UNSC) resolutions in coordination with the U.S.

The deputy spokesperson added that his ministry shared the National Security Council(NSC) standing committee’s view. The committee expressed deep concern over the incident on Thursday.

This comes after the North's state-run Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) confirmed that the two projectiles fired into the East Sea were a test of new tactical guided missiles.

Asked whether Seoul has yet to confirm that the projectiles were ballistic missiles, the spokesperson said it would be advisable to receive that confirmation from diplomatic and military officials.
