The government will develop around 50 large residential towns by 2012 to improve living standards for people in low-income brackets and stabilize housing prices.

The Ministry of Construction and Transportation announced Sunday that the 10-year project will be implemented this year.

Under the plan, around five million new housing units will be supplied nationwide, including one and a half million long-term, low-rent units.
