S. Korea to Host Int'l Telecommunications Meeting

South Korea said Monday it will host a meeting of telecommunications experts from 25 countries to discuss the future direction of radio communications services beyond third-generation (3G) networks.

The Ministry of Information and Communication said in a statement that the meeting will be jointly organized by the South Korean government and the International Telecommunication Union.

The ministry said about 300 government officials, professionals, telecom operators and equipment manufacturers will join the eight-day meeting, scheduled to open on Wednesday in Busan, the country's second-largest city.

It added that among the issues to be discussed at the forum is the joint use of radio frequencies of 2.5 GHz and 2.6 GHz.
