The main opposition People Power Party’s(PPP) support rating rose for the second straight week.
According to Realmeter's survey of two-thousand-530 adults nationwide from last Monday to Friday, 37-point-eight percent of respondents said they supported the PPP, up two-point-six percentage points from a week earlier.
The rise is attributed to former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl's joining the party on July 30 and former chief state auditor Choe Jae-hyeong's declaration of presidential candidacy last week. The two are both considered leading presidential contenders of the party.
Approval for the ruling Democratic Party(DP), meanwhile, was down one-point-five percentage points at 32-point-one percent.
President Moon Jae-in’s approval rating dropped two-point-six percentage points to 41-point-five percent, while 54-point-nine percent disapproved of him, up two-point-five percentage points from the previous week.
The survey had a confidence level of 95 percent, with a margin of error of plus or minus one-point-nine percentage points.
