North Korea, whose hackers have been accused of major cyberattacks in the past years, has denounced the United States as the top global hacker.
The North Korean Foreign Ministry issued the criticism in an article on its homepage on Sunday, criticizing the U.S. for accusing Russia and China of cyberattacks.
The ministry reportedly said that on July 27, a U.S. official said in a speech at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence that Russia was spreading misinformation to interfere in the 2022 U.S. midterm elections.
The North said the U.S. official called the Russian efforts a "clear violation of U.S. sovereignty."
The U.S. official apparently referred to President Joe Biden, who warned in a speech that if the U.S. becomes involved in a war in the future, it will have been triggered by a cyberattack.
The North Korean foreign ministry said that it is obvious who is the global boss hacker, adding that the U.S. must stop deceiving the world and pretending to be a protector of cybersecurity.
