All remaining South Koreans have been evacuated from Afghanistan, after Taliban militants regained power over the country ahead of a planned withdrawal of U.S. troops.

According to the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, a plane carrying one South Korean civilian and three employees of the South Korean Embassy, including the ambassador, departed from the Kabul airport at around 9 a.m., Korea time.

The plane is reportedly headed toward an unnamed country in the Middle East and with this, the evacuation that began in June is complete.

Most of the embassy staff left for a nearby Middle Eastern country onboard a U.S. plane on Sunday, after the South Korean government shut down the embassy amid the instability.
