U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday that President Joe Biden has no intent to withdraw its troops from South Korea and Europe.

Sullivan made the remark during a press briefing when asked about U.S. President Joe Biden's Monday speech in which he said that the U.S. military cannot make sacrifices where there is no national interest.

Asked if Biden's comment applies to U.S.' allies as well, including South Korea, Sullivan said that the president has no intention of drawing down U.S. troops from South Korea or Europe.

He added that the country has sustained a troop presence for a very long time in those regions, not in the middle of a civil war, but to deal with the potential of an external enemy and to protect its ally against that external enemy.

Sullivan said that it's a fundamentally different kind of situation from the one the U.S. is presented with in Afghanistan.
