North Korea reported zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 despite having about 36-thousand people tested by early August.

According to the World Health Organization's weekly virus report on Wednesday, North Korea had 693 people tested between July 30 and August 5, and all of them tested negative.

The country has reportedly tested a total of 35-thousand-947 people so far since the start of the pandemic, and still has not reported a single confirmed case.

The country was expected to receive nearly two million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine via the COVAX vaccine-sharing program, but the shipment has been delayed.

The UN Security Council's North Korea sanctions committee recently extended an exemption by one year to allow UNICEF to help North Korea prepare supply chains needed to store and distribute COVID-19 vaccines.
