U.S. special representative for North Korea Sung Kim arrived in Seoul on Saturday to discuss ways to resume dialogue with Pyongyang.

Speaking to reporters at Incheon International Airport upon his arrival, the envoy said he is looking forward to very close consultations with Korean government officials.

On Monday, Kim will hold talks with his South Korean counterpart Noh Kyu-duk to assess the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, such as the allies' joint military exercise and North Korea's furious protest, and discuss ways to stably manage conditions.

Kim is not believed to have plans to contact North Korea during his stay, as was the case when he visited in June.

Russia's chief nuclear envoy and Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov also arrived in Seoul Saturday morning.

While Morgulov is scheduled for talks with Kim on Monday and Noh on Tuesday, a trilateral meeting is not said to have been arranged.
