The United States government is reportedly considering accepting Afghan refugees at U.S. bases overseas including South Korea.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that Washington is considering the move as one of the measures to alleviate the overcrowding of bases in Qatar, Bahrain and Germany with evacuees from Afghanistan.

The journal quoted U.S. officials as saying that locations the Pentagon is considering include military bases in Virginia, Indiana and California within the United States, as well as other U.S. bases in Japan, South Korea, Germany, Kosovo, Bahrain and Italy.

Dulles International Airport on the outskirts of Washington D.C. is expected to be the center of processing for refugees from Afghanistan.

The Pentagon is reportedly preparing at least one military base to house Afghan refugees.

U.S. officials reportedly said that as the evacuation in Kabul has raised concerns in other countries, the United States is turning its eyes to its facilities both in and outside the country.
