North Korea has reportedly developed its own Polymerase Chain Reaction(PCR) test equipment to detect COVID-19. 

The ruling Workers' Party newspaper, the Rodong Sinmun, said on Monday that scientists have developed real-time PCR equipment on par with world standards. 

It is the first time that the North has announced that it has developed its own equipment for PCR tests. 

Meanwhile, North Korea appears to be holding in-person classes despite the pandemic. 

In a separate article in the Rodong Sinmun, it said students at a high school in South Pyongan Province disinfect their desks and chairs and sterilize their hands.
